Susannah married Eli Wiggill and joined the morman Later Day Saints (LDS) Church. Bentley family disowned her. Her reply was that she would rather have the gospel than all their worldly wealth.
On the 20 Feb 1861, she and  Eli Wiggill joined the Henry Talbot Party and set sail for Boston in America  on the Barque "Race Horse". Arriving, Boston on the 19 April 1861.
